Set Free and Sent Out

Where will you be on January 26, 2035?

Ten years out, even for the best planners, feels premature to put something on the calendar.

I, however, on January 26, 2035, will be celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the first public gathering of Garden City Church.

What exactly will this anniversary celebrate?

We will not celebrate property we acquired. We will not be celebrate numbers of people impacted.

We will celebrate how God used Garden City to set people free and send people out.

In 2035 we will celebrate the single mom who is a leader in our community. She came to us with a message of who she was. That message was spoken over her by the world, the devil and a voice inside their head. But at Garden City she heard the voice of Jesus and the identity he gives her, “creative daughter.”

On January 26, 2035 we will celebrate:

the grad student addicted to FanDuel

the lonely grandmother

and the successful executive

all learning who Jesus says they are. They learned they are not their experiences. They are not the worst thing they’ve done. They are not even who they say they are. They are who Jesus says they are. And his word for us is good.

In 2035 we will celebrate a God who enters our world not to judge but to save (John 3:17). Jesus’ word sets us free and sends us into the world as a force for good.

Ten years from now may be premature to mark your calendar. So we’re inviting you to mark your calendars for three weeks from now. Garden City Church’s first public gathering will be on January 26, 2025.

We will follow up with more details in the coming weeks. For now pray that God would continue to prepare our hearts. Pray that he would keep speaking clearly. Pray that we would respond to his word with joy and receptivity. Pray that everyone involved with Garden City would feel the invitation to be set free and sent out.

Because he likes us,
Garden City
