And it was very good (to gather)

We feel so much gratitude after our first gathering. It was a joy to see your faces and share our stories.

We hope your imagination was (re)awakened today. We are convinced that imagination fuels a life of faith.

Imagination begins when we ask ‘what’s possible?’ The Biblical story begins with possibilities. God created a good world and invited us to partner with him in his creative work. Our story is teeming with possibility. We live in a story that starts and ends with goodness.

Many of us wrongly believe the Bible tells a story that goes something like this

You’re terrible

God wants to punish you

He sends Jesus

Now we’re ok

What if that story is missing something?

What if that’s now how the Biblical story starts? The story of the Bible starts with goodness. Yes, sin is real. The world is not as it should be. And yes we, sadly, contribute to that problem.

But that’s not where our story starts.

The Biblical story starts with a creative God. He spends each day creating, then examining his creation. What does he see upon his examination? Not once, not twice but seven times. God sees his creation is good.

Genesis 1:4
"God saw that the light was good…"

Genesis 1:10
"God called the dry land 'earth,' and the gathering of the waters He called 'seas.' And God saw that it was good."

Genesis 1:12
"The earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed according to their own kinds, and trees bearing fruit with seed in it, according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good."

Genesis 1:18
“[lights] To govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good."

Genesis 1:21
"So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living thing with which the water teems, and that moves about in it, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good."

Genesis 1:25
"God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good."

Genesis 1:31
"God saw all that He had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day.”

Our story starts with goodness. We are wired for goodness (Prov. 11:17). Sin is an interruption. What if the possibilities we lost get restored when we say yes to Jesus?

What possibilities has God put in your heart?

What if those possibilities are too small?

What if God wants to do more through you than you feel is possible?

We want to imagine what’s possible together.
